Dante Gutierrez Monaco, who was one of the first students to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sports Law and Management taught at Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), has been appointed Head of Sport for the municipality of Quilmes.
Quilmes, a city with a population of over 200,000 located in the province of Buenos Aires, recently appointed a new Head of Sport. Dante Gutierrez, who attended the second edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sports Law and Management in Argentina (2005), was appointed to the position by the City Mayor. He is tasked with planning, monitoring and evaluating sports programmes for the municipality. He is also in charge of relations with provincial and national sports federations.
Dante, who also taught the event management module in the framework of the Programme from 2007 to 2009, described his experience on the course as follows: “In Argentina, this Programme allowed us to create a curriculum to develop the skills and expertise of people working in sport. Management of sports organisations is gradually improving, which is a source of great satisfaction to us all.”
