5 Star “FIFA Master” named best in Europe for a record fifth time

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and the academic course partners at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, Italy) and University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) are proud to announce that the “FIFA Master” - International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport course has been ranked as the top postgraduate sports management course in Europe for 2017 by the influential SportBusiness global rankings.

The annual SportBusiness rankings are recognised around the world as the most comprehensive guide to university sports management courses. The “FIFA Master” is now the first and only course to have ever achieved the landmark of being named the top course in Europe on five separate occasions. This latest accolade for the “FIFA Master” follows previous No.1 European rankings in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 by the same independent survey. Yet again, the strengths of the “FIFA Master” course in the vital areas of student satisfaction, quality of teaching and the employability of our graduates were all key factors in receiving the 2017 award.

Since the “FIFA Master” course was first launched in 2000, it has now firmly established itself as one of the most respected sports management courses in the world today. Indeed, with the new 2017 rankings assessing the quality of more courses than ever before, for the “FIFA Master” to be able to maintain its position as Europe's leading course is tremendous testimony to not only the quality of our graduates now working in global sport, but also an outstanding achievement for the course Scientific Directors and Co-ordination teams in Leicester, Milano and Neuchâtel who work so hard in delivering the course each year.

CIES General Secretary, Vincent Schatzmann, said, "This is a wonderful achievement. To be named as the top course in Europe for an unprecedented fifth time is excellent news for everybody involved with the “FIFA Master”. This is a complex course to plan, organise and deliver each academic year but we are extremely lucky to be able to select only the best students and we take great pride in their sports industry careers after graduation. Our success in the SportBusiness rankings over recent years has been built on hard work and dedication. This will continue and our new No.1 ranking in Europe for 2017 will act to inspire us even further”.

About the SportBusiness Rankings:

The rankings, now in their sixth year, attract entries from postgraduate sports management courses around the world. Only postgraduate-level courses that are 100% related to the business and administration of sport, and have been running for at least three consecutive years, are considered. Alumni of the courses are surveyed on topics including whether they secured employment within the sports industry after completing the course, and their views on the quality of teaching.
