CIES attends the International Sports Convention (ISC) in Geneva

The International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) had the pleasure to take part in the ISC Convention 2016, which was held in Geneva between 7th and 8th December 2016.

The CIES was heavily involved with the convention programme and its various panel sessions. CIES Director, Prof. Oswald was invited to speak on anti-doping issues, in particular the retesting of samples. In this panel, he was joined by prestigious speakers such as Sir Craig Reedie (President, World Anti-Doping Agency), Dr Andrea Gotzmann (NADA Germany) and Olivier Banuls (Deputy Director, Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation - CADF). It was particularly rewarding to see Olivier as a panel speaker as he graduated from the 6th edition (2006) of the “FIFA Master” International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport course co-ordinated by the CIES.

President of CIES’ Foundation Council, Pierre Cornu, later had the opportunity to share his experience and knowledge of sports integrity on the first day of the convention. For this ISC session he was accompanied by Sports Lawyer Kevin Carpenter and Prof. Pierre-Charles Pradier from the Sorbonne University.

Away from the ISC programme of talks, delegates also had the opportunity to visit the CIES convention stand and learn more about our activities in sports Research, Education and Consulting.

CIES would like to thank the organisers of this excellent event. Indeed, the CIES already looks forward to participating again in 2018.
