Four Graduates from both the FIFA Master and FIFA/CIES International Network participated in the FIFA Fan Focus Group 2016

Aino Hiisku (FIFA Master 15th edition graduate), Natalie Amato (FIFA Master 16th edition graduate), Joaquín Scaffino (Universidad Católica Argentina) and José Matiz (Universidad Santo Tomás,) both of whom are graduates of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management, took part in the FIFA Fan Focus Group 2016 which gathered 50 supporters from 22 countries at FIFA Headquarters on 27 and 28 October.

Speaking about the event, Joaquín said: “Along with fifty men and women from 22 countries, passionate fans and sport professionals, we were part of an amazing two-day event of creative workshops and presentations. It enabled us to take a small role in the FIFA changing process. It was a great experience; sharing and debating with such a diverse group of people, each one with their own great perspectives.

The FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, gave us a warm welcome and talked about the current changes, in particular women’s football development and the new direction FIFA is taking to connect with its fans and create stronger bonds  with them.

Moreover, we were given the opportunity to discuss relevant topics and present our experiences relating to consuming or playing football. Everyone could share their opinions and emotions around football. This great teamwork enabled us to formulate very interesting ideas. And we even had the chance to meet the great Marco Van Basten!

FIFA is really changing positively, seeking new ways to communicate with its fans in this interconnected world. FIFA is becoming more approachable.”
