INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME IN SPORT MANAGEMENT
Interview with

Keutsepilemang Ndebele | graduate 2015

What is your current professional activity? and your involvement in sport?
I am a Diesel Plant Mechanic and football coach by profession. I currently coach a tertiary institution team.

Why did you choose to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management at NMMU?
It was recommended to me by a friend and it would become a tool to change from a diesel mechanic job to revert back to a career in sports.

What were your expectations before the start of the course? and… were they met?
I expected to go through volumes of materials and spend sleepless nights.

What would you say are the key strengths of the NMMU/FIFA/CIES Certificate in Sport Management?
The practical aspects of all modules and hands on assignment made it very relevant by its practicality. The key note guest speakers made this an exceptional experience by any measure. It is a must for anyone who is working in any sports in the country or internationally.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
Invaluable and modern handling of any sporting strategic planning management together with tools to turn me from an ordinary person to an expert in many areas were some of the benefits of this course. Building a network of people from various sporting codes and local/provincial and national government environment made it easy to understand the intertwined sport-political compatibilities.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
The entire course was a huge and exciting experience.

Would you recommend the NMMU/FIFA/CIES Certificate in Sport Management? Why?
Indeed. This is a must course for all sports managers and leaders.
