The FIFA Master is a unique 10-month sport (and not solely football...) Master programme, initiated by FIFA, coordinated by CIES, and taught by three prestigious European universities: De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, IT) and Neuchatel University (Neuchatel, CH), in association with the Università della Svizzera italiana.

Fifty students attended the opening ceremony of the first edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme of sport management in Kiev on 19 October. Financially supported by the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU), the latter is organised by the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine (NUPESU) that has educated dozens of world and Olympic champions since its foundation in 1930.
Prof. Vladimir Platonov, President of the University, expressed his satisfaction to host a Programme destined to offer a better understanding of the sporting world and its needs: “It is especially important nowadays as sport is threatened by great economic discrepancies”.
For his part, Oleksandr Bandurko, FFU Vice-President, stressed that the learning could be immediately applied and implemented to the organisation of the EURO to take place in the country in 2012. Finally, Bertrand Reeb, CIES President, pointed out the significance of the project: “FIFA and FFU’s initiatives in the field of education are exemplary. We can only wish that sport organisations and the academic world develop closer and closer relationships”.
The students – most of whom have already important functions within sport entities, in particular the FFU, football leagues and football clubs – will follow three intensive course weeks until April 2010.

El pasado 19 de octubre cincuenta alumnos asistieron en Kiev a la ceremonia de apertura de la primera edición del Programa de gestión del deporte FIFA/CIES, organizado por la Universidad Nacional de Educación Física y Deporte de Ucraina con el apoyo financiero de la Federación de Fútbol de Ucrania (FFU). Dicha universidad es célebre por haber formado a numerosos campeones del mundo y campeones olímpicos desde su fundación en 1930.
Prof. Vladimir Platonov, Presidente de la Universidad, se alegró de acoger un programa destinado a ofrecer un mejor entendimiento del mundo del deporte y de sus necesidades: “Es particularmente importante hoy en día cuando el deporte está amenazado por grandes disparidades económicas“.
Por su parte, Olesandr Bandurko, Vice-Presidente de la FFU, subrayó que los contenidos del curso se podrán aplicar a la organización de la EUROCOPA, acontecimiento deportivo que tendrá lugar en 2012 en su país. Finalmente, Bertrand Reeb, Presidente del CIES, se congratuló del proyecto: “Las iniciativas de la FIFA y de la FFU en materia de educación son ejemplares. Esperamos una estrecha cooperación entre las organizaciones deportivas y el mundo académico”.
Los alumnos, la mayoría de ellos con responsabilidades importantes en entidades deportivas, en particular en la FFU y en ligas y clubes de fútbol, asistirán a los cursos durante tres intensas semanas hasta abril de 2010.

Cette académie a formé des dizaines de champions du monde et de champions olympiques depuis sa fondation en 1930.
Prof. Vladimir Platonov, Président de l’Université, s’est félicité d’une formation qui doit permettre une meilleure compréhension du management sportif et de ses besoins: « Ceci est d’autant plus important à l’heure où le sport est menacé par de grandes disparités économiques ».
Pour sa part, Oleksandr Bandurko, Vice-Président de la FFU, a estimé que les enseignements des cours pourront être appliqués à l’organisation de l’EURO que son pays abritera en 2012. Finalement, Bertrand Reeb, Président du CIES, s’est félicité du projet : « Les initiatives de la FIFA et de la Fédération de Football d’Ukraine en matière d’éducation sont exemplaires. Nous ne pouvons que nous réjouir d’une coopération étroite entre les organisations sportives et le monde académique ».
Les étudiants – dont la plupart exercent déjà des fonctions importantes dans le sport, notamment au sein de la FFU, de ligues et des clubs de football ukrainiens – suivront trois semaines intensives de cours jusqu’au mois d’avril 2010.

Blatter), the University of Neuchatel, and the City and Canton of Neuchatel.
