The FIFA Master is a unique 10-month sport (and not solely football...) Master programme, initiated by FIFA, coordinated by CIES, and taught by three prestigious European universities: De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, IT) and Neuchatel University (Neuchatel, CH), in association with the Università della Svizzera italiana.

La Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET) se ha convertido en el decimotercero socio de la red Universitaria Internacional durante una ceremonia oficial que tuvo lugar el 22 de febrero en Caracas. La UNIMET es una institución académica privada fundada en 1970. Reúne más de 7000 estudiantes en un campus moderno ubicado al lado del parque nacional El Ávila.
La colaboración UNIMET/CIES goza del apoyo financiero de dos entidades privadas, a saber el Deportivo Italia CA, club de fútbol de primera división, y la empresa GZ Gerencia Deportiva Internacional CA representados por el Ing. Mario Henández, la Dra. Ingrid Hernández y el Dr. Gonzalo Szeinkop.
“La firma de este convenio con el CIES cumple con nuestro deseos” comentó el Dr. José Ignacio Moreno León, rector de la UNIMET “Nuestra universidad debe estar abierta al mundo, respetando los principios de solidaridad y de comunidad. Estos son también los valores de la FIFA y del CIES.”
Por su parte, el Ing. Mario Hernández subrayó que los patrocinadores tienen por misión desarrollar el deporte en Venezuela: “Sólo lo podemos lograr a través de la educación y la mejora de las capacidades administrativas de los gerentes deportivos. Es por este motivo que queríamos asociarnos con el Programa FIFA/CIES. Él corresponde a nuestros objetivos.”
Vincent Monnier, representante del CIES dio la bienvenida al decimotercero miembro de la Red Universitaria Internacional FIFA/CIES: “En numerosas culturas, habríamos empezado a lamentarnos por superstición. Pero no es el caso en Venezuela. Tomemos el béisbol como ejemplo donde el “número trece” es el más importante, el pilar del equipo. La Universidad Metropolitana va a ser “nuestro número trece”, uno de los eslabones esenciales de nuestra Red”.
El Dr. José Roberto Bello, vice-rector de la UNIMET, otros directivos de la UNIMET, Laureano González, vice-presidente de la Federación Venezolana de Fútbol y representantes de los medios participaron también en la ceremonia.
La primera edición del Programa de gestión del deporte FIFA/CIES empezará en septiembre del 2010.

The Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET), became the 13th partner of the International University Network during an official ceremony held in Caracas on 22 February. UNIMET is a private academic institution founded in 1970. With more than 7000 students, it is located on a modern campus near the national park El Ávila.
The UNIMET/CIES partnership is financially supported by two private entities, namely the Deportivo Italia CA, first division club, and the firm GZ Gerencia Deportiva Internacional CA, represented by Ing. Mario Henández, Dr Ingrid Hernández and Dr Gonzalo Szeinkop.
“The signature of this agreement with CIES fulfils all our wishes” declared Dr José Ignacio Moreno León, rector of UNIMET “Our university must be open to the world, respecting the principles of solidarity and community. These are also the values of FIFA and CIES”.
For his part, Mario Hernández emphasised that the sponsors had the mission to develop sports in Venezuela. “We can only manage it through education and the improvement of our managerial skills. That is why we wished to go into partnership with the FIFA/CIES Programme. It meets our objective.”
Furthermore, Vincent Monnier, CIES representative, greeted the 13th partner of the FIFA/CIES International University Network: “In numerous cultures, we would have started to moan by superstition. But it is not the case here, in Venezuela. Take as an example baseball where the “number 13” is the most important player, the pillar of the team. The Universidad Metropolitana will be “our number 13”, one of the strong links in our Network”.
Dr José Roberto Bello, vice-rector of UNIMET, several other members of the UNIMET management, Laureano Gonzalez, vice-president of the Venezuelan Football Federation and media representatives also participated in the ceremony.
The first edition of the FIFA/CIES Sports Management Programme will start in September 2010.

La Universidad Metropolinana (UNIMET) est devenue le treizième partenaire du Réseau Universitaire International lors d’une cérémonie officielle tenue le 22 février à Caracas. La UNIMET est une institution académique privée, fondée en 1970. Elle réunit plus de 7000 étudiants sur un campus moderne situé près du parc national El Ávila.
Le partenariat UNIMET/CIES bénéficie du soutien financier de deux entités privées, à savoir le Deportivo Italia CA, club de football de première division, et la firme GZ Gerencia Deportiva Internacional CA, représentés par Ing. Mario Henández, Dr Ingrid Hernández et Dr Gonzalo Szeinkop.

C’est pourquoi nous avons souhaité nous associer au Programme FIFA/CIES. Il correspond à nos objectifs! ».

CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies), located in Neuchatel, is a private Swiss foundation, affiliated with the University of Neuchatel and created in 1995 by FIFA (under the impetus of its current president, Mr. Joseph S. Blatter), the University of Neuchatel, and the City and Canton of Neuchatel.
