The FIFA Master is a unique 10-month sport (and not solely football...) Master programme, initiated by FIFA, coordinated by CIES, and taught by three prestigious European universities: De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, IT) and Neuchatel University (Neuchatel, CH), in association with the Università della Svizzera italiana.

The first edition of the FIFA/CIES Sport Management Programme officially started last week in Ramallah (Palestine). 25 students, most of whom are holding managerial positions within sport organisations, will attend a mix of traditional classroom courses and distant learning classes, organised by the Birzeit University, academic partner of CIES since 2009.
“We should not be ashamed to go back to university and to admit that we can still grow better” declared Abdelmajeed Hijjeh, General Secretary of the Palestinian Football Association. “It is only through the study, the acquisition of new models, the sharing of experiences and the reconsideration of the daily habits that you will be able to improve and develop sport in Palestine”.
For his part, the CIES representative congratulated the Birzeit University for its commitment and dynamism, and encouraged the students to apply their newly acquired knowledge in their own associations and clubs as soon as possible.
The Programme will last until next August. Students will then present a group work related to management issues specific to Palestinian sport.

La primera edición del programa de gestión deportiva FIFA/CIES comenzó oficialmente la semana pasada en Ramallah (Palestina). 25 estudiantes, de los que la mayor parte ejerce funciones directivas en organizaciones deportivas, seguirán cursos mixtos (enseñanza tradicional, enseñanza a distancia) organizados por la Universidad Birzeit, socia del CIES desde 2009.
« No hay que avergonzarse de volver a la universidad, de confesar que podemos mejorar” declaró Abdelmajeed Hijjeh, Secretario General de la Federación Palestina de Fútbol “Sólo por medio del estudio, descubriendo nuevos modelos, compartiendo experiencias y poniendo en tela de juicio la rutina tendrán la posibilidad de mejorar y desarrollar el deporte en Palestina”.
Por su parte el representante del CIES felicitó a la Universidad Birzeit por su compromiso y dinamismo y animó a los estudiantes a aplicar lo antes posible los nuevos conocimientos en su asociación o en otro club.
El curso durará hasta el próximo mes de agosto. Los estudiantes presentarán entonces un trabajo de grupo sobre problemas de gestión específicos al deporte palestino.

La première édition du Programme de management sportif FIFA/CIES a officiellement commencé la semaine passée à Ramallah (Palestine). 25 étudiants, dont la plupart exercent des fonctions de manager au sein d’organisations sportives, suivront les cours mixtes (enseignement traditionnel, enseignement à distance) organisés par la Birzeit University, partenaire du CIES depuis 2009.
« Il ne faut pas avoir honte de retourner à l’université, d’avouer que l’on peut encore s’améliorer » a déclaré Abdelmajeed Hijjeh, secrétaire général de la Fédération Palestinienne de Football «Ce n’est que par l’étude, la découverte de nouveaux modèles, le partage d’expériences, la remise en cause de la routine que vous pourrez améliorer et développer le sport en Palestine ».
Pour sa part, le représentant du CIES a félicité la Birzeit University pour son engagement et son dynamisme et incité les étudiants réinvestir le plus vite possible leurs nouvelles connaissances dans leur association ou autre club.
Le cours durera jusqu’au mois d’août prochain. Les étudiants présenteront alors un travail de groupe relatif à des problèmes de management spécifique au sport palestinien.
