Universidad Santo Tomás (UST) and the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) renewed their academic partnership during a short ceremony hold at CIES headquarters in Neuchâtel last week.
The two institutions renewed the partnership contract which was first established in 2006. The main objective of this cooperation is the organisation of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management in Chile. Jaime Vatter Gutierrez, National Rector of UST, Roberto Lafontaine, Director of International Projects at UST as well as Rodrigo Alvarado, Director of the Institute of Sports Sciences at UST, participated in the event. CIES was represented by Director, Denis Oswald, and Secretary General, Vincent Schatzmann.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome our Chilean friends onto ‘CIES land”, commented Denis Oswald. “Our cooperation with UST has become stronger over the years and is proved by the organisation of conferences within the framework of the 2015 Copa América and the inclusion of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in the postgraduate offer at the university."
For his part, Jaime Vatter added: “We are delighted to continue this partnership, and all the more so now that issues related to sports management are getting more and more attention in Chile”.
UST began the 9th edition of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme last May.
