SPORTS MANAGEMENT DIPLOMA
Interview with

Louis Kinziger | graduate 2015

What is your current professional activity? and your involvement in sport?
I am currently working for CIES, as local coordinator in Abu Dhabi. I often practice sports, in teams or individually, as a hobby but also as a lifestyle to maintain good physical condition.

Why did you choose to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management at PSUAD?
I want to pursue a career in the domain of sport management. I believed that the FIFA/CIES programme was the best option regarding my situation last year in helping me to achieve my goals.

What were your expectations before the start of the course? and… were they met?
Before starting, I expected to learn the basics of sport management. I did not think there would be so many aspects to it, and the various modules were a great experience in helping me to learn that the world of sport management is extremely diverse and demanding. I was happy to follow the course, as I learnt much more than just what I wished for, and with a great team spirit in the class as well.

What would you say are the key strengths of the PSUAD/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management?
First, it is the only diploma of its kind in the GCC area. Also, it has a very strong reputation worldwide, and is also quite a new concept in the region. Sport is an industry that is developing very fast, and I believe that the FIFA/CIES (PSUAD) course is what the UAE needed to be part of that development.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
As I was one of the youngest attending the programme, I learnt a lot from the professionals around me, and about how their experiences improved our team work during tasks such as writing a thesis. Also, I believe that I learnt much more about sports than the simple physical aspects of it, and I realized that it was much more interesting than first thought.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
I think the group work was a highlight as it is a way to share and learn from others.

Would you recommend the PSUAD/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management? Why?
I would absolutely recommend the programme to any of my friends or relatives... and even others! It is the best opportunity to support a change in your career, to launch it, or even just to learn about the very interesting domain of sports management.
