Zouk Mosbeh, Liban
PROGRAMME EN MANAGEMENT DU SPORT
Interview avec

Elie Obeid | diplômé 2015

What is your current professional activity? and your involvement in sport?
After I served 3 years with Lagardere Sports, I am now working on my own as a sports marketing consultant working with top class basketball teams in Lebanon (hopefully this is a great start).

Why did you choose to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management at NDU?
After my 3 years with Lagardere Sports, I wanted to get deeply into this field and I was introduced to the programme. It was what I needed, as it developed my experience to another level.

What were your expectations before the start of the course? and… were they met?
My expectations were almost the same as what the course offered. However, I thought there would be more case studies and more information on how some FA's have developed themselves (for ex. I really wanted to know about the German FA: what was their plan over the last 10 years to reach their peak now.).

What would you say are the key strengths of the NDU/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management?
The key strengths were the selected teachers. Added to that, it was how the course was linked to the teaching materials. Plus the guest speakers – with their sport industry background - who came over for seminars.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
Well, as I said above, now I have taken the step to have my own business in sports marketing and club development.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
The day I presented my final project!

Would you recommend the NDU/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management? Why?
Yes, of course! The main reason is that hopefully, someday, we will develop in Lebanon a good sports society, built with well-educated people, connected to that field, and we can end the corruption, which is found in sport.
