Welcome to the new 2014-2015 FIFA Master class!

Thirty-two carefully selected international postgraduates were welcomed by the CIES President Mr Bertrand Reeb, the CIES General Secretary Mr Vincent Schatzmann, the Scientific Directors from the three partner universities and the FIFA Master Alumni Association representative, during a special ceremony held at De Montfort University’s Clephan building. Among them we can mention the presence of two alumni of the FIFA/CIES Programme; both of whom shared the 2014 FIFA/CIES Network Scholarship.

The FIFA Master is organised by the Centre International d’Etude du Sport (CIES) and endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). For the past fifteen years the FIFA Master has been a training ground for future managers in the sport business.

The new 2014-2015 class will be based in England at De Montfort University’s International Centre for Sports History and Culture until Christmas as they complete the Humanities of Sport module. They will then move to Italy to begin their studies in Sports Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management before moving to Switzerland for the final Sports Law module at the University of Neuchâtel Law Faculty.

The FIFA Master was recently ranked the leading postgraduate sports management course in the world in 2014 by Sport Business International.

Besides gathering a wide range of sport industry experts and renowned academics, the programme will include field visits to some of the biggest names in world sport.

With over 90% of FIFA Master graduates now working in sport and for organisations that include the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA), the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), United Arab Emirates Football League (UFL), European Rugby Cup (ERC) and the Sauber Formula 1 Team, the impact of the FIFA Master reaches across all continents and all sports.

The CIES, De Montfort University, SDA Bocconi School of Management and the University of Neuchâtel congratulate all thirty-two members of the new class for gaining a place on the FIFA Master programme and wish them every success as they continue their studies.
