By the time of the application deadline, CIES had received eighteen projects which will now all compete in the fourteenth edition of the FIFA/CIES International University Award. An international jury will announce the winning entry at the end of January 2024.
Eighteen group works will participate in the fourteenth edition of the FIFA/CIES International University Network Final Project Award 2024, which is a record number of submissions. All of the projects meet several criteria, including the perspective of the lessons learned during the FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sport Management, the originality of the chosen theme, the way it is approached, the possibility of understanding and debating in an innovative way and whether the issues are related to sport at continental, national or a local level. Finally, the selected projects must have the possibility of putting their proposals and conclusions into practice.
The projects for 2024 focus on issues such as women's football, inclusion and integration, gender equality, the training of junior footballers, the environment, sustainable development, support for athletes' career transition, creating a supportive environment through sport for children with cancer, efficient design and management of sports infrastructures, creating platforms to promote networking between the various stakeholders in sport, governance, new technologies and artificial intelligence in sport.
