The Jury responsible for awarding the 2019 FIFA/CIES University Network Prize held its annual meeting in Milano on 20 February 2019.
The project “Plan de desarrollo del fútbol y de la Liga femenina en Argentina” (A Development Plan for Football and the Women’s League in Argentina), written by Fernando Romano, Gonzalo Huerta, Lucia González and Mariana Detoni, was finally selected as the winner from the 14 projects shortlisted for the prize.
In their group work, the four graduates from the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme organised by Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), proposed a development programme related to the future of women’s football in Argentina by focusing on the reality of the game and its organisation in the country. All the components of the course modules were part of their investigation.
It is worth noting that the winners will now have the opportunity to travel to Switzerland and visit the “Home of FIFA”, the CIES headquarters in Neuchâtel and to present their work to the 19th edition FIFA Master class!
We would like to thank all the students of the FIFA/CIES University Network who took part in the contest this year and we hope that many of the projects presented will be implemented in the near future.
