CIES has just signed a partnership agreement with Universidad de Puerto Rico - Recinto de Mayagüez (UPRM) and the Federación Puertorriqueña de Fútbol (FPF) in order to organise the FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sport Management. Here we meet Jessica Rosa Andino, our local coordinator, who will play the essential role of interface between our institution and its local partners.
Born in Puerto Rico and with a degree in Communications from the Universidad de Puerto Rico - Recinto de Río Piedras -, Jessica Rosa Andino has been working as a sports journalist for the past 25 years for print media, radio, television and digital platforms. In this capacity, she has collaborated with Primera Hora, one of the most respected newspapers in Puerto Rico, for over a decade. Her role has included reporting on various national and international sports. She has also worked as an editor for regional titles such as El Norte and Horizonte of the GFR Media group.
In television, Jessica has been a presenter and commentator for indoor and beach volleyball matches at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 for the Telemundo Deportes/NBC Universo network. In radio, she has hosted several sports programmes and commented on national and international competitions.
In addition to her media activities, our coordinator has cooperated with several national sports federations, including boxing, gymnastics, baseball, basketball, volleyball and football. At the Puerto Rico Football Federation (FPF), she was Director of Communications. It was here that she first discovered the FIFA/CIES International University Network Programme and later worked closely with the FPF President to bring it to Puerto Rico.
Away from sport, Jessica has been vegan since 2018 and reviews vegan restaurants and products on the Vegana313 platform and social networks. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts and reading. Finally, she admits to a great passion for Formula 1.
Speaking about her new responsibilities as CIES Coordinator, Jessica said, "It is a privilege for me to be part of the FIFA/CIES University Network and to be involved in the organisation of the UPRM/FPF/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Puerto Rico. I am extremely happy and excited to be able to contribute to this new project so that it can be as successful as the programmes already organised in 17 other countries around the world”.
