About USMP

The University of San Martín de Porres (USMP) was founded in 1962. Over the last half-century, it has achieved a special position within the Peruvian education system thanks to the work it has done to serve the community. Today, it is a modern institution including 9 faculties offering access to 18 professional careers. USMP has over 30,000 students and 2,500 academic and administrative staff. It is the largest university in Peru and ranks among the top three private universities in the country.

USMP focuses on training competitive professionals with sound human, ethical and moral values. It contributes to promoting, developing and disseminating science, technology and culture. USMP extends its action to the community with a view to contributing to building a modern, just and fair society.

The culture of the university is based on essential principles such as respect for the individual, the search for truth and excellence, integrity, an innovative and enterprising approach, protecting the environment and making a commitment to the development of the country.

USMP also plays a significant role in the promotion of Peruvian sport. In 2004, it founded the “Club Deportivo Universidad de San Martín de Porres”, which includes football and volleyball teams currently playing at the highest level in their respective disciplines, and which have achieved remarkable sporting successes at international level too. With its University Sports Complex (“Villa Deportiva Universitaria”), it also offers some of the most modern sports facilities in the country.
