SPORTS MANAGEMENT DIPLOMA
Interview with

Salem Ali | graduate 2015

What is your current professional activity? and your involvement in sport?
Currently, I work as a senior strategy analyst in a food safety organization and, other than strategic planning, I am responsible for stakeholder management. At the moment, I am not involved in sport.

Why did you choose to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management at PSUAD?
I am planning on a move to work in the sport industry; therefore, this course gave me the chance to gain knowledge from respected teachers and academic institution.

What were your expectations before the start of the course? and… were they met?
Yes, they were met as I wanted to know how to manage, promote and even how finance works in the sports industry.

What would you say are the key strengths of the PSUAD/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management?
The name of the programme as there is a demand in the sports industry and the academic background of CIES and PSUAD in combination with FIFA recognition.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
I got to grow my circle of contacts with people from around the region who work in the sports field. I am now known to them and hopefully this will come in handy soon.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
Getting the experience of teachers who have worked closely with FIFA and other big events and also making great new friends during the programme.

Would you recommend the PSUAD/FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management? Why?
Yes, I will. As I was of the first to graduate from the programme, I am now experienced in how things work after graduation. Also the knowledge we gained from experienced and well know teachers was a great aspect of the course. As a passionate person for sports, this programme will give you a great insight into the industry and will hopefully open doors to continue and get the FIFA Master qualification. This is a dream for me.
