What is your current professional activity? and your involvement in sport?
Entrepreneur in Business of Sports. Taekwon-do Practitioner & Instructor

Why did you choose to study the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus?
I chose the programme to enhance my awareness of the intricacies of sports management as I prepared to enter the entrepreneurial world of the business of sports

What were your expectations before the start of the course? And… were they met?
My expectations were high and I believed that my knowledge desire would have been met based on the course titles being offered throughout the programme. My expectations were met and more.

What would you say are the key strengths of the UWI/FIFA/CIES Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management?
The course modules and material provided were applicable and did great justice in guiding me throughout the programme. The staff was a strong point as they were approachable, accommodating and knowledgeable.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
I have garnered a wealth of knowledge and a greater appreciation for the world of sports and it has helped put me on a higher platform achieving this Postgrad programme.

How have the courses offered by the programme aided in developing your knowledge, competencies, and skills?
The courses have enhanced my knowledge base and my self-management approach regarding, time, prioritizing, my outlook on studies, reasoning, writing and dealing with people.

How has the programme contributed to your professional growth and employability?
I am able to apply what I have learned in projects I am doing with planning and executing sporting events for varied sports, and utilize concepts and approaches learned for my business.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
The efforts by most of my batchmates to ensure we all stayed the “course” will last in my memory throughout the ages. There was a high level of comradery especially from the other Caribbean nationals within the programme even though I was in Jamaica and wasn’t physically in Trinidad. I felt as though I was there with them throughout everything. There was never any judging of nationalities and we checked up on each other and kept each other abreast of everything regarding the courses, as we aimed toward the finish.

Would you recommend the UWI/FIFA/CIES Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management? Why?
This course would be and is highly recommended by me. It is intense yet satisfying as it is applicable to an individual’s personal and professional growth in sports. It creates a good foundation for a person in taking on any aspect of sports management they desire or any further studies. The format in which the programme is offered (online with a mix of face-to-face pre-COVID-19) is ideal as well, as it allows for time efficiency and management.
