INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT
Interview with

Yousef Zaghloul Hasan | graduate 2013

What is your current professional activity? And your involvement in sport?
General Director of the Minister of Labour's office, electronics engineer, President of Dura Club (village) and volunteer coach for the girls’ soccer team in the club.

Why did you choose to attend the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management at Birzeit University?
Being a president of the club and a coach at the same time, I focused on many professional achievements, in particular in terms of structure and administrative issues.

What were your expectations before the start of the course? And… were they met?
Expectations were to gain new knowledge and information related to sport in many fields (public relations, finance, management, etc.). Most of my expectations were met during the course, about 80% or more.

What would you say are the key strengths of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management?
It contains the main topics related to sport management.

What benefits (on a personal and/or professional level) did you gain from attending the course?
I learned a lot about finance, media, law and organising sport events.

What is your best memory/highlight of the course?
Colleagues, lecturers, the wonderful presentations made during the course and a phrase I heard during my interview: we are looking for people who are volunteers, but who want to work as professionals.

Would you recommend the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sport Management? Why?
Yes, because it allows you at least to work in a professional way even if you are a volunteer.
