Trinidad and Tobago: UWI launches 7th edition of the FIFA/CIES Postgraduate Diploma

The University of the West Indies (UWI), as the academic partner of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) since 2009, has  opened the registration process for the 7th edition of the FIFA/CIES Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management. The new edition  will begin in September.

UWI and CIES are very pleased to launch the seventh edition of the FIFA/CIES Postgraduate in Sports Management in Trinidad and Tobago. The objective of the partnership is to open this education programme to all English-speaking countries in the Caribbean, as emphasised by UWI Saint-Augustine Campus Principal Clement Sankat: “Sport has always been a unifying force in the Caribbean, as well as a source of pride for us all. It is, therefore, essential for UWI to contribute to the training of sport managers throughout the region.”

With that in mind, UWI offers a mixed curriculum combining distance learning modules and three weeks of intensive courses at the St Augustine campus. There are many advantages to this combination, as emphasised by alumnus  Camara David (class of 2013): “The combination of online courses and classroom time offers a perfect balance which favours social interaction and contacts with other students. It also allows us to manage our time-related constraints efficiently!”

Furthermore, Marsha Boyce (2014) added: “The Diploma is ideal to gain academic qualifications while being exposed to best practices.”

For his part, Kevin Jhinoo (2015) commented: "I got valuable management skills as well as motivation to keep advancing a career in sport."

Registration deadline:

31 May 2016
